Some of the most powerful lessons in life can come through learning music. It teaches patience, creativity, and perseverance. It gives kids a healthy way to express themselves and the confidence to take on new challenges. But for too many families, private music lessons are simply out of reach.
The idea for Rise Thru Music began years ago, back when I worked in a local music store. Part of my job was helping families with lesson sign-ups and instrument rentals. And while many kids were able to start their musical journey, I'll never forget the moments when a parent had to return an instrument because they could no longer afford it. Watching a child give up something they truly loved because of finances was heartbreaking - and it stuck with me.
Rise Thru Music was created to change that story. Our goal is simple: to make music education accessible to kids in underserved communities, at little or no cost to their families. We do this by pairing students with dedicated mentors for one-on-one lessons and providing the instruments and materials they need to succeed.
But it's about more than learning notes and scales. We believe music mentorship can change lives - by giving kids a positive role model, a creative outlet, and the encouragement to dream bigger.
As we prepare to launch our first programs later this year, we're excited to take the first steps in building a community where every child has the chance to grow through music. We hope you'll join us on this journey - whether by volunteering, donating, or simply sharing our mission with others.
